I hate wearing a suit

It was hot today, especially in the morning. I work in an office in East Midtown. As far as I can tell, Midtown East is mostly full of people working in the financial services industry. I got into the elevator with a middle-aged man, fully-suited and sweating from his balding head. “It’s hot out huh” “Yeah, I feel it too and I’m not wearing a suit. I can’t imagine how you must feel.” He paused.

Hidden OS X Files

Every now and then I need to view hidden files in OS X, primarily .htaccess for website stuff, which Lion hides from view by default. Rather than dig through Google every time I need to figure out how to hide/unhide my files, I’m just gonna stick the procedure here. Fire up terminal and paste in the following command: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true That will make all files viewable. But we need to restart Finder for the change to take effect.

Hackintosh Problems

So I made a hackintosh a few weeks ago following this wonderful guide over at tonymacx86. It was pretty fun to do and I like to think that I learned something about computers. The installation was fairly straightfoward and the finished machine ran really smoothly after some tweaking. But it’s been having some weird issues since I got back from winter break. Every now and then all the displays hooked up freeze and everything becomes unresponsive, with the exception of any background audio running.

India Ink

Note: This is an essay I wrote in my last year of high school When I was growing up I wanted to be a couple of things. When I was the new kid on the block who really wanted to fit in with everybody else, I wanted to be a construction worker when we played in the dirt, a police officer when we played Cops and Robbers, and a fireman when some of the more troubled kids got their hands on some matches and lit leaves on fire.

Note: This is an essay I wrote near the end of high school. It’s been a week since the end of Chinese School and I’m uncertain of what to do with all the free time that now lies before me. My Saturdays have been largely clear since the Forensics season ended, leaving me now with a completely empty weekend for the first time in several months. This amount of freedom is still a foreign concept for me.
